ABOUT MAELO RUIZ
Maelo has won numerous awards in Puerto
Rico, Colombia and USA. Maelo began his
career in Puerto Rico at the age of 16.
As a leader singer for seven consecutive
years for Pedro Conga y su orquesta Maelo
flourished into one promising young Latin
talent.
In 1994 Maelo makes a debout as a solo artist.
Te necesito Amor was ranked #1 for four
weeks consecutively in Colombia, Panama,
Venezuela, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami ,
Chile, Peru and Ecuador.
In June 2003 Maelo recorded his 4th production
as solo with the album Otra vez Maelo Ruiz
where hits such as Asi eres tu en mi vida
, sera que si, por favor señora &
Te va a doler quickly hit the top charts
in Latin America.
In 2007 Maelo releases his latest album
Puro Corazon which becomes popular with
his song Entregate
Now days Maelo is considered among the best
voices in Latin America.

Afro Latino Festival
What comes
to mind when you hear “Afro Latino”?
For some it means music and dance, for others
it is a connection to their ancestry and
an eagerness to celebrate it!
Afro Latino
Festival stems from an acknowledgement that
African and Latin American communities share
a strong cultural heritage. Latin America
has a 500-year history of African descendants
which started with African slaves taken
to the Americas to serve the Spanish, Portuguese,
French and English colonisers.
Today, the African diaspora is apparent
all over the world and, in our own backyard,
African cultural infuences continue to enrich
Sydney’s cultural diversity.
Afro Latino Festival embraces the spirit,
colours, rhythms and stories of its local
communities to promote and strengthen their
cultural identities with a FREE festival.
To the beat of the drums, Afro Latino Festival
will present an exciting and unique showcase
of Afro-communities’ music, cuisine,
arts & crafts, dance, history and culture.

goers’ taste buds all throughout the

A fashion parade and African arts &
crafts will paint the Festival with colourful

and Africa Konnect.
