Watussi

"Watussi", the eight piece party Afro-Colombian rock band from Bondi has signed their debut album to Knowfool/Inertia to be released nationally on October 15th. Entitled "Tequila, Sangre y Fuego", the album is fourteen songs of the sort of high energy fun and danceable tunes that forged the Watussi live reputation.

Tracked and mixed at BJB Studios by Scott Horscroft (The Presets, The Panics and Sleepy Jackson) and Berkfinger (Richard in you Mind, Cuthbert and The Night Walkers), the unique mix of Afro-Caribean percussion with the raw, rock guitar riffs and thumping bass has been captured fantastically well on their first release. The multilingual first single "Echale Fuego" is already available to listen on the band's myspace page (www.myspace.com/watussimusic). Knowfool has started work on remixes for this and other tracks on the album.

Watussi will play a few warm up gigs in the coming month at The Vanguard on Friday Sept 21st, Triselies in Katoomba on Saturday Sept 22nd (both supported by Brisbane's Grassroots Street Orchestra) as well as two shows at the Darling Harbour Fiesta on the Sept Long Weekend with the official album launch party planned for November.
